painting update

short n sweet this one  iv done the skin on all the beasts that iv recently acquired as well as started painting the black frost shard, vayl1 and abby2  I was really happy with how these turned out no shininess and very little pooling from the wash that I used.

when I did the re paint the first time round I had some shininess and pooling so I may end up re painting those as we have started a heat wave here in the UK and that's the best time to paint everything dries super quick!!

finally I airbrushed  goreshade and deathwalker  I really like his backstory and as its no1 hes jus turned to cryz to boost his power and try to save scyrah  and as he gets more powerful he is still hiding his true aims from the cryx overlords.  so in homage to that I'm painting him white in ret style colours and death walker looks lik a corpse bride which I like so shes done I used the same grey/white n it worked really well

who you calling chicken??

this is not a real chicken so it doesn't count but it is the source of this article not actual chickens but I came across a comment on the legion of everblight forum after posting my lists and someone said that as the lists looked similar was I doing it to avoid list chicken.

so here is my research to make this more definable like  google definition's lol

so list chicken revolves around the steamroller divide and conquer where u need to play each list at least once and before the game starts you have to decide on a list to play ur both hoping to play the easiest match up rather than the hard counter or harder match up.

so I have these rough general example's

bringing a list for scenario and a list for assassination which is what the vast majority of people bring if these to players face off both will want to play the same style list to not give away an advantage.


a death star style list and a regular list   this maybe to frighten the opponent into playing something that can deal with the deathstar but not the other list to create an advantage.

taking 2 similar lists that do the same thing so that the opponent has no clear choice on which of his list will be better.

conclusion!

yea it went well I think lol the main point to remember is either

A) have an alternative list no1 wants to play
b) have 2 lists that cause equal problems

go try it out!

I have literally been waiting years for this joke! as I just broke past the 9000 mark I'm hoping those that choose to read my blog are having some success with what I'm writing it would be nice to know that some one is benefitting from my random musing n stuff lol

so iv had a game with the legion battle group and want to offer up some musings for handling the other factions!  firstly its not a bad battle group we have lots of tools for taking down any other group that we come up against as long as you play for the long game and be patient!

so lets look at the group

the bolt thrower is the main piece that gives you an unbelievably huge threat range 6" move +10" range and 4" snipe that's 20" on a 24" board so pretty much after you've moved on ull be able to reach most things as long as you can see them!  so use this to threaten key pieces slowly chip away at them whilst pushing them back and cycle between which ever gets closest as they cant heal they will need to engage quickly  

for hordes go for the quickest first so that they are harder to heal

kyrssa will be casting tactical supremacy on the bolt thrower and ashen viel on the neraph  this makes the neraph def16 for shooting and combat (with a -2 on attack rolls if u aren't immune to fire) 

the shredders will flank the neraph as this is the main hitting piece is something runs foreward or charges the neraph the shredders go first and then the neraph finishes it off 

feat turn will be saved for unjamming beasts or getting stuck in to remove he heavies and leave as little as possible on the board for the next turn or to do an assassination run if u can get it off

and that's kinda it really  main thing remember to play the long game make them come to you!

mk3 with cryx!

so iv played a denny1 battle group and 75 point full jack list with

and i missed out on the win bcoz of scenario it needed a unit to make use of the feat turn but with her spells i felt more in control than when i play legion  a few  changes to the list and it will be fully ready

banethralls +ua

necrotechs x3

so the banethralls will give me that much needed unit to swamp a zone and the necrotechs will keep my jacks going for longer

although for my new girl is should be STABBY!! as its the one and only kyrssa !

so iv played the battle group level and its really gd I like its speed and threat and she can zoom round the board with 3 fury for 6" move as a spell its awesome!


but scaling up her is my 75pt list that ill be aiming to buy

so ive mashed 2 lists together that I saw online  

1 half of the list patiently waits and plinks away at the enemy mixed with a balls to the wall get in their face

the warspears and hell mouth form the balls to the wall shield for rest of the list that will be plinking away on the flanks and from behind

the seraph and typhon with tactical supremacy will be moving forewards and retreating after firing  death stalkers will be going for solos   the neraphs will go for those that have bein pulled out of formation as well as using the speed for scenario  and ashen viel will be on the warspears

for this list I would like to swop out my wall for 

assassin and banshees with ashen viel they are stealth immune to blast and def17 cant ask 4 more
spell martys to improve the range of the spray spell which is nice

hex hunters and bayal with ashen viel they get stealth which is really gd and can hex bolt the things that the hellmouth pulls

so well see how this goes when I get the models for it

new battlegroups arrived!

so inside they are chocka block with lots of new goodies like the training manual and a lil book on the faction that incudes how to build up the army so I now have 3 casters for cryx and 4 casters for leion!

so this is the current list a nice mix of speed board control and heavy hitters with proteus/hellmouth and a gd assassination run with a 5" reposition should keep my beasts in check lol

so the idea is hellmouth contest and pull things then proteus pulls them again after the mouth has hit them

so I can safely damage things without giving away to many models 

so what can I change!

for this list the death stalkers can turn into a reak!   within a 24" for control and +2 str on feat turn it will make a really nice harassment piece watch out casters!

you could also drop both deathstalkers and harrier for a protector! to shield the caster
