rhyas sigil of everblight!

so ive started painting up rhyas and whilst I like the uniformity of my theme I also want to expand it slightly and have some things that are different for variety that takes inspiration from their rules fluff things like that.

vayl1 was mainly white as she is wreathed in snow

so here is rhyas1

so youll notice some differences straight away the armour plates are grey rather than silver and aren't purple like every other model in my faction

the cloth is also darker this is because she is like a ninja I imagine she blends in with her troops and appears from the middle of them like a whirlwind of death

the sword I like the idea of the demon blade muramasa and my idea is that the blade absorbs the blood and I wanted different degrees of "wet" blood from fresh to almost dry so the blade is a mass of different shades all chaotic

this has also spurred me on to paint the warlord and swordsmen in a similar style to rhyas to further this idea should come together well on the table!!

hopefully ill finish rhyas when I get back from my jollies and then on to building my swordsmen

since testing a rhyas1 list I have gone and bought the missing models  so that I'm no longer proxying!

reak and zuriel both got airbrushed today! I need to go over zuriel I think  lil more as it was getting cool but happy with how they both turned out so far

next month lilly2 and more painting as the weather gets warmer

rhyas1 vs caine2

so I got rhyas and zuriel and made a list to try out that ended quite badly vs a caine2 gun line

this is deployment

 with my deployment what you cant see is that ive pretty much blocked my self in!  with a 10" control I needed my battle group closer

and an even caine2 gun line!!  I hate going first!

pretty simple turn 1 every1 runs up n I lose 2 tentacles so far so gd!

well this is turn3 so ive missed a pic out but it ended here and badly!

I messed up with my reak n it died
I lost proteus
I blocked in my swordsmen so they didn't do much dmg
BFS were in the wrong place they need 2 support the swordsmen
I don't think the hellmouths are needed in this list but well see

I'm going to play the list a few more times before I decide to swop it

new models n stuff!

so azreal and kallus2 are out soon and on war room and for azreal atleast ive started trying to find lists to play him in

the main lists will be lylyth1 and 2 to really boost his shooting abilities.  I'm also re visiting older models that I don't yet own to create some new and varied lists so here are a few things i'm looking at buying next

archers- ive tried them out and they are awesome with lylyth2 3 shots on feat turn with a potential pow22 rat 17 they are also plastic! wooo

swordsmen - now plastic and a main stay with rhyas

I purchased sometime last year custom foam for fling beasts so at some point I want a seraph(2) angels(2) neraph

sorceress n hellion to go with my flying beasts and protect my archers

legionaries n UA

fyanna2 iron flesh will make the above awesome!

VS khador

so I'm still practicing for this steam roller that is now next week so I have 1 more practice session before the real thing happens!

so I played 2 games against khador and here is what happened ! (note I cant remember everything from the khador lists)

game 1 was vayl1  VS harkevich1

vayl had some making up to do after losing to Sturgis the week before so lets go over the khador list

I ended up going first and winning this on scenario  highlights were banshees protecting my force by taking lots of shots to the face and stopping harkevich casting spells with a cheeky flame template covering him.

incite is still really powerful when it comes to cracking high arm and improving piece trading I had vayl cast incite move then cast chiller on a hellmouth unit the hellmouth pulled in 2 jacks and then they both got killed by typhon and proteus putting me up by 2.

I didn't need the feat this game but I could have used it to jam up his battle line instead of getting shot to pieces lol

think that was everything and on the field I was super out numbered this game was assassination  victory + scenario lol

highlights included protues n a scythean holding the left zone from turn2  abby pulled off alpha hunter and they both charged. proteus hit the winterguard and the scythean went into some snipers.

another highlight was after the scythean died to doomreavers and proteus was near enough dead next turn proteus went on a killing spree killing enough models to take him back to 5 boxes short of full health which was awesome because my opponent had lost his hitting power and then I got mine back again

on the other flank he was trying to push through to my caster he killed typhon but it was to little to late and turn after I feated and proteus suffered 1 point on a boosted dice -12 roll from a free strike n he charged irusk who was in cover and ate him lol

some general thoughts

harkevich with low model count is easy to maneuver round with hellmouths etc to pull out of position it wil make the match up a lot easier

irusk2 has so many shenanigans including immune to kd for infantry and -3 speed on feat turn its crazy so have a list that can take out tough models like death stalkers scytheans and proteus if u use abby2 like I did it makes the match up lots easier.

time management

so I've played my first 2 games of 2017 and currently at 50% win rate lol I'm practicing for the steam roller that I'm doing at the end of the month and what I'm currently practicing is managing my time with only an hour I thought I would struggle to get things done etc BUT



it wasn't that bad  so here is my rough break down for how to use ur time

deployment - this is probably the most important part but don't go mental 5 mins should be enough

first turn is always run + some spells so keep it quick shouldn't be more than 5 mins

then each turn roughly 10 mins is more than enough as an estimate but here are some things to keep in mind to help make the most of each minute !

knowing base stats
flicking back and forwards from cards or war room doesn't seam like much but it all adds up! so memorise them!

processing time
another semi obvious one BUT don't plan your turn on your turn !! watch the opponent and plan your move's


I think these are the main 2 that are worth remembering then its practice practice practice!

tournament season time

well 2017 is here its January and I'm booked in for my first steamroller of the season  3/4 rounds depending on number of players with a 60min death clock! I think its 3 lists n D/C  which means every game will need lots of forethought!



so for the next 4 weeks ill be mainly trying to play as many of my lists as I possibly can 2 reasons

1 I mainly play casual games with no time limit so I need to condense my game down from a few hours to 1 hour which includes setting up

2 the second and most important reason is so that I can make judgements quicker and I also have the deployment for each list nailed into no more than 5 minutes secondly I need to start memorising stats rather than jus reading the card so that I don't need to pick them up etc etc I also need to start figuring out when to feat with vayl1 lol and make less mistakes

so the 3 lists I have decided on are abby2 vayl1 and lylyth1  I think lylyth is the odd 1 out so may throw people off hopefully !

so the next few posts will be more report orientated as I started prepping
